Samsung initiates One UI 8 Beta testing for the Galaxy S24 and selected international foldable models
The One UI 8 Beta Program, the latest iteration of Samsung's custom Android skin, has started rolling out to various devices. The program is currently available in the U.S., India, South Korea, and the U.K.
Flagship Devices Lead the Way
The Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Fold 6 are the first devices to receive the One UI 8 (Android 16) beta in the aforementioned countries. Users can register for the beta testing program via the Samsung Members app.
Beta Availability for Other Devices
The beta program for Galaxy A phones, including the A36 5G, A35 5G, A55 5G, and A54, is scheduled to launch officially in September. However, the A54 will not be available for the beta in the U.S., while the A36 and A35 will only be accessible in the U.S. and India.
Expansion Plans
Samsung has announced plans to expand the One UI 8 Beta Program to more devices such as the Galaxy S23 series, Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and the Tab S10 series in September. Additionally, some mid-range models are expected to join the testing as well.
India-specific Details
In India, users can join the One UI 8 Beta via the Samsung Members app. However, some users have reported encountering a banner that says "recruitment closed," but it remains unclear if this issue will be rectified as the week winds down.
Global Rollout
The One UI 8 Beta rollout indicates a slow but steady global rollout. The fourth beta of One UI 8 has been rolled out for the Galaxy S25, and the program is also starting in South Korea for the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Galaxy Fold 6.
Good Lock Ecosystem Ready
Samsung has already prepared its Good Lock ecosystem for One UI 8, further signaling the software's (hopeful) impending release.
Note:
- The One UI 8 Beta Program's start date has been delayed by two days, originally proposed for August 11.
- Only the unlocked versions of the Galaxy S24 series devices are eligible for the One UI 8 beta in the U.K.
- The August 1 security patch is also being rolled out to users who are signing up for the One UI 8 beta in the U.K. (This fact has been mentioned earlier and is not repeated.)
