Saudi Broadcasting Authority Elects Grass Valley for Significant Technological Enhancement
Mecca, Saudi Arabia – Tech Update:
The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA) is undergoing a major revamp of its broadcast facility in Mecca, courtesy of Grass Valley. Partnering with First Gulf Co. (FGC), this upgrade is a significant leap forward in SBA's live production capabilities, particularly for around-the-clock online broadcasts from Al-Masjid Al-Haram, the Grand Mosque of Mecca.
As the nation's state broadcaster, SBA delivers news, culture, and entertainment to both local and international audiences. Their facility in Mecca serves as a primary hub for live religious event coverage. This ongoing project aims to outfit SBA with more advanced, scalable, and cutting-edge systems to provide top-tier media content across radio, television, and digital platforms.
SBA's choice of Grass Valley for the project was based on the company's proven broadcast technology, reliability, and seamless integration. Joe Chbat, FGC’s Executive Vice President, stated that the solution ensures high-quality video switching, scalable infrastructure, and efficient signal processing, which are crucial for SBA's current and future needs. The reputation of Grass Valley in the region, coupled with their renowned long-term support and competitive pricing, secured them as the ideal technical partner for such a crucial project.
The setup is based on 12G technology, offering increased capacity and enhanced performance. This modern equipment upgrade also future-proofs SBA to meet its growing demand for high-quality, high-definition production. The installation includes the Kayenne K-Frame XP standard 3ME system, Sirius 850 Dual Frame router, several Densité-configured Kaleido modular frames, and more.
