Six Premium Tequilas Win Gold at Spirits Selection 2025
The Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2025 has awarded six Gold medals to premium Añejo and Extra Añejo Tequilas. The competition, renowned for its international judges and rigorous quality controls, saw these spirits excel with their unique aging processes and innovative finishes.
Among the winners, 30-30 Añejo Tequila stood out for its maple syrup-like sweetness and oak spices, developed over 18-24 months in American oak casks. Maestro Dobel 50 - '1973' offered a luxurious experience with dark honey and chocolate flavors, thanks to a finish in Pedro Ximenes (PX) sherry casks. RG Legado, another Gold medalist, showcased flavors of caramelized agave, chocolate, and toasted oak after 12-18 months in ex-bourbon casks.
Innovative finishes also played a role in Campo Azul Extra Anejo Single Barrel's success. This Tequila, finished in Tennessee Whiskey casks, offered unique caramel and banana bread flavors. Milagro Añejo Tequila, produced in Los Altos, Jalisco, impressed judges with its sweet, dessert-leaning style featuring caramel and milk chocolate notes.
The Gold medal-winning Tequilas at the Spirits Selection 2025 demonstrate the impact of time in wood and innovative finishes on the character of cooked agave. With capped medal rates and international judges, the competition ensures only the finest spirits are recognized, making these Tequilas exceptional choices for connoisseurs and enthusiasts alike.
