Skoda launches its electric flagship, a seven-seater SUV, slated for release in 2026

Škoda Auto, the renowned Czech automaker, is set to introduce a new electric seven-seater SUV next year. The vehicle, named the Škoda Epiq, will premiere in mid-2026, and the production version of its sister model, the Vision 7S, will follow suit.

The Vision 7S is expected to be a significant addition to the battery-electric vehicle news, as there are few seven-seater electric vehicles available. This new offering is set to strengthen Škoda's brand and position it as a leader in the electric SUV market.

Martin Jahn, the sales director of Škoda, described the Vision 7S as "our new highlight." The vehicle is expected to offer a better price-performance ratio compared to other brands at the same news.

The Vision 7S is based on the MEB platform of the Volkswagen Group and will employ Škoda's new "Modern Solid" design language, which was introduced in 2022. The SUV will be around the same size as the 4.760 mm long Kodiaq, replacing it as an electric equivalent.

Details about the Vision 7S are still being kept confidential by Škoda, but it is known that the SUV will be offered in several versions with different performance and range. The Vision 7S is reported to have a 200 kW (272 PS) drive, and an 89 kWh battery is said to provide over 600 kilometers of range.

The production version of the Vision 7S is expected to be unveiled this year, and it is likely to closely follow the design of the concept, as suggested by Autocar. The SUV will be positioned above Škoda's existing electric SUVs, Enyaq (4.7 m), Enyaq Coupe (4.5 m), and Epiq (4.1 m).

The Vision 7S, like the Enyaq Coupe and Enyaq, will feature the new "Modern Solid" design language, which emphasizes efficiency, practicality, and Škoda’s robust design approach. The SUV is also expected to be aerodynamically optimized for longer range, though the exact announced range is not specified.

The price of the Vision 7S is expected to be higher than the Enyaq, which is currently available for around 45,000 euros. However, with its improved price-performance ratio, the Vision 7S is set to offer a compelling value proposition for consumers looking for a seven-seater electric vehicle.

In summary, Škoda's Vision 7S is shaping up to be a game-changer in the electric SUV market. With its impressive range, design, and practicality, the Vision 7S is poised to meet the growing demand for seven-seater electric vehicles and strengthen Škoda's position as a leading automaker in the electric vehicle segment. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new offering from Škoda.
