Solaris to Deliver 79 More Electric Buses to MZA Warsaw Transport Authority
Solaris and MZA Warsaw Expand Partnership with 79 Electric Buses
Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe (MZA Warsaw) is set to significantly expand its fleet of electric buses, with 79 new Solaris buses set to join its ranks. This move is another major step towards a green, eco-friendly capital city in Poland.
Solaris Bus & Coach and MZA Warsaw have signed a contract for the order of 79 electric buses, which will be used in the Polish capital. The order consists of 50 Urbino 18 electric articulated buses and 29 Urbino 12 electric buses.
Each 18-metre bus will be equipped with 700 kWh Solaris High Energy batteries, while the 12-metre buses will feature 500 kWh Solaris High Energy batteries. Charging for the buses will be handled via a plug-in connector.
The new buses will come with assistance systems including blind spot monitoring and a driver drowsiness warning system, ensuring the safety of passengers and drivers alike. They will also feature a modular drive system architecture, increasing potential passenger capacity and providing space on the roof to store batteries.
Delivery of the new buses is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2026. There is an option to purchase an additional 79 vehicles, which could bring the total number of electric buses that could arrive to as many as 258.
This expansion of the fleet does not include the optional purchase of an additional 79 vehicles. The 258 future electric buses expected in Warsaw next year will be delivered by Mercedes-Benz.
The purchase of these 79 buses reinforces Solaris's position as one of Europe's leaders in zero-emission transport. MZA Warsaw, a long-term partner of Solaris, has expanded its cooperation with the company, further strengthening their partnership.
The new buses will join MZA Warsaw's existing fleet of Solaris electric buses, marking a continued investment in zero-emission vehicles by the city's public transport provider. This expansion is part of Miejskie Zakłady Autobusowe's ongoing investments in zero-emission vehicles, as it strives to create a greener and more sustainable city for its residents.
With these new electric buses, Warsaw is taking another step towards becoming a green capital city, reducing its carbon footprint and improving air quality for its citizens. The arrival of these buses will undoubtedly contribute to a cleaner and more efficient public transport system in the Polish capital.
