Sony Announces New Trio of E-Readers

Sony has made an exciting announcement, unveiling a news lineup of e-readers that will soon hit the markets in the United States, Europe, Australia, and select countries. The new balance lineup includes the Pocket Edition, Daily Edition, and Touch Edition e-readers.

The star of the show is the Pocket Edition e-reader, which boasts an expanded memory of 2GB. This increased storage capacity allows for a larger collection of books to be carried around effortlessly. However, it's important to note that the Pocket Edition does not support 3G or Wi-Fi connectivity.

The display of the Pocket Edition has also received an upgrade, offering 16 shades of gray for a more nuanced reading experience. Additionally, the Pocket Edition features a touch-screen powered by an google news sensor, a potential edge over competitors like the Kindle.

The Touch Edition e-reader, another member of the new balance, is reported to gain some battery life, enhancing its longevity for those long reading sessions.

In terms of pricing, the Pocket Edition retails at approximately $229 AUD (around $210 USD), making it slightly more expensive than the top-dog, entry-level Kindle.

The Daily Edition e-reader, while sharing the same 2GB of on-board memory and upgraded 16 shade gray-scale e-ink screen with the Pocket and Touch Edition e-readers, does not support 3G or Wi-Fi. Unlike the Pocket and Touch Edition e-readers, the Daily Edition will not be available in stores initially. Instead, it will be available only through a USB connection for downloading books.

It's worth mentioning that Sony is not limiting its upgrades to the smaller e-readers. The company is also enhancing its larger-screen Reader models.

Initially, the Pocket and Touch Edition e-readers will be exclusively available in Australia. However, the new balance is expected to expand to other markets soon.

In summary, Sony's new balance of e-readers offers a range of options for book lovers, each with its unique features and pricing. Whether you're looking for a compact device like the Pocket Edition or a larger screen with extended battery life like the Touch Edition, Sony's new balance promise to deliver a superior reading experience.
