SPD intensifies regional collaboration efforts
The Social Democratic Party (SPD) in Bergisches Land is making strides to showcase the region's tourist attractions to the world, with a clear and compelling concept. The aim is to use these new impulses to propel the entire region forward in tourism, while maintaining a strong, joint economic hub.
The focus on creating a unified approach, dubbed "Bergisch Together", is central to the SPD's strategy. Miriam Scherff, the newly appointed head of the SPD, emphasizes the importance of research, sustainable production, and close cooperation between business and administration for maintaining and creating new jobs.
A key project in this endeavour is the promotion of a Bergisch bike path below the Müngstener Bridge. The outgoing Remscheid Mayor, Burkhard Mast-Weisz, announced that Deutsche Bahn has given a "green light" for a detailed investigation of the bike path project. The association "Bridge Strike" has been advocating for this project for many years.
Industries such as robotics, research and development, and healthcare are highlighted as creating additional opportunities in the cities of Remscheid, Wuppertal, and the outlet in Remscheid Lennep. New impulses will be created for these cities, according to the SPD trio.
Every investment in lifelong learning is considered essential for the creation of necessary jobs and skilled workers. A strong economy and good jobs are emphasized as the foundation for a dignified life and social cohesion. The importance of a strong healthcare sector is underlined.
The SPD trio explained that the Bergisches City Triangle offers a lot in terms of tourism, including nature, history, and industrial culture. To secure additional funding from state, federal, and European levels, cross-regional collaboration is encouraged.
In a bid to engage the community, the SPD has organized a musical event with the big band "Critical Mass" on Sunday morning. The notion of Bergisches Land as an economic hub with innovative industry, new technologies, and good training is reiterated.
Administrations are emphasized as the engine for enabling and joint design in the region. The SPD aims to use these new impulses for the entire region to move it forward in tourism, while maintaining a strong economic hub.
