Billet Labs' Steampunk-Inspired Wall-Mounted PC Mod: A Victorian-Era Machine for the Modern Age

Billet Labs, the renowned modder behind the YouTube channel of the same name, has unveiled a stunning new creation: the "Wall-Y" mod. This steampunk-inspired, wall-mounted custom PC case mod is a marvel of Victorian-era aesthetics fused with cutting-edge PC hardware.

The mod's design is dominated by brass and copper plumbing components, creating a distinctive steampunk vibe that resembles a Victorian machine or time machine mounted on the wall. The open-air style showcases custom water-cooling tubing and pipework, serving both functional cooling and artistic purposes.

The backbone of the mod started as MDF but was replaced with metal for structural strength. The extensive use of brass and copper pipes and plumbing fixtures for the custom water-cooling system gives it an authentic steampunk appearance, blending industrial Victorian craftsmanship with modern tech.

The open-frame, wall-mounted form factor serves as both a working computer and a sculptural art piece, reminiscent of a Victorian-era device or machine. The mod is more than just a Steampunkish appearance; it's a testament to the merging of art and technology.

Under the hood, the components powering the build are high-end and chosen for performance. The CPU is an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, suitable for 4K video editing and 3D scanning tasks. The GPU is an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090 Ti, providing raw graphical power for demanding workloads. The mod is equipped with 64 GB of RAM, supporting heavy multitasking and professional applications, and boasts an 8 TB storage capacity, ample for large files and media. The motherboard is a B650 EI chipset, enabling modern connectivity and features, and the power supply is an 850W SFX, sufficient for the power-hungry components while fitting the compact design.

The whole project was documented in a detailed build video by Billet Labs (Felix Ure), revealing the design process, challenges, and craftsmanship behind fusing Victorian steampunk aesthetics with a high-performance water-cooled PC system mounted on a wall.

In summary, Billet Labs’ "Wall-Y" is a fusion of steampunk art and modern PC engineering — a functional, wall-mounted workstation presented as a Victorian fantasy machine through expert use of brass, copper plumbing, and open design. The water flow in the cooling loops is the mod's magical aspect, while the plumbing overlay is assembled and put in order in an artful manner. The creation is a testament to Felix Ure's craftsmanship, as he assembles the PC from scratch, including components like power supply, RAM, and four industrial fans. The "Wall-Y" mod is undoubtedly one of the most ambitious builds by Felix Ure, showcasing his unique blend of art and technology.
