Elon Musk's rebranded Twitter, now known as X, is on the hunt for a PR whiz to bolster its reputation and mend fences with advertisers and media outlets.

Since Musk took charge, X has found itself in a bit of a pickle with some advertising clients and journalists. A slew of folks in the know claimed that X is now hunting for a communication guru to smooth over relations. This new recruit is reportedly there to sculpt X's public persona. The position has been vacant since Dave Heinzinger, former head of media strategy, called it quits at the start of the year. The fresh face in the communications team will closely collaborate with CEO Linda Yaccarino, who's keen on revamping X's ad business.

Post-Musk's takeover, a good chunk of advertisers bid adieu to X. However, there have been indications that X's ad revenues are slowly but surely on the rise. In bold letters, Musk told those who stopped running ads, "Screw you!" X is currently facing off against eleven advertising clients in court, asserting they colluded to boycott the platform, an alleged breach of antitrust law. The trial is ongoing.

For the media, Musk has traded blows with journalists too.

The Platform's Political Stance

X has come under fire for loosening content moderation policies and reviving controversial accounts. However, you can always count on Musk to spout MAGA messages and support US President Donald Trump. This behaviour has caused quite a stir among users. In March, Musk announced that his startup, xAI, had grabbed X in a stock swap.

The communications department at X had a fair dose of chaos last year. Joe Bennaroch, a loyalist of Yaccarino, bolted in June after a year in the job. Nick Pickles, a long-time X employee, called it quits in September. In December, PR maestro Dave Heinzinger hopped aboard, but didn't last the full three months, eventually returning to his previous role at the Haymaker Group. John Stoll, former editor of US newspaper "Wall Street Journal", joined in January to take charge of the news and partnerships team and has since stepped in as the interim PR boss.

PR insiders heaped praise on X for making an effort to beef up its PR department. They said the role would be a baby step into a wild adventure.

"It'd be the adventure of a lifetime," laughed one PR insider.
