Hero MotoCorp's Upcoming Vida VX2: A Potential Game Changer in the Electric Scooter Market

Hero MotoCorp, the leading Indian two-wheeler manufacturer, is set to introduce a new player in the electric scooter market with the launch of the Vida VX2. The VX2, a creation of Hero MotoCorp's sub-brand Vida, is expected to be positioned as a low-cost, affordable electric scooter, potentially offering a lower price point compared to the current electric scooters in the market.

According to recent reports, the Vida VX2 will come equipped with a battery pack size of 3.2 kWh. While Hero MotoCorp currently offers two battery packs - 2.2 kWh and 3.4 kWh - for their existing electric scooters, it remains unclear whether these will be carried over for the VX2. However, the 'Plus' badging on the top-spec variant suggests that Hero might offer a bigger battery for the VX2.

The VX2's price range could undercut the current V2 series, which ranges from ₹74,000 to ₹1.15 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). If priced lower, the VX2 could be the latest sub-₹1 lakh electric scooter in the market, competing with the new Bajaj Chetak 3001 and the TVS iQube in terms of price. The base variant of the TVS iQube costs ₹94,434 (ex-showroom), while the new Bajaj Chetak 3001 was recently launched at ₹99,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The VX2 might also potentially offer a competitive price with the smaller battery pack option of the Ola S1 X, starting at ₹74,000 (ex-showroom). The upcoming Vida VX2 might launch at a price under ₹1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), aiming to attract a wider customer base seeking an affordable electric scooter option.

The VX2 is the production version of the Vida Z Concept showcased at EICMA 2024. Last month, the top-spec Plus variant of the VX2 was already spotted at a dealership finished in matte yellow. Recently, a teaser of the VX2 revealed a red-colored model, hinting at the variety of color options that might be available for the new electric scooter.

With its premium and upmarket appeal, the Vida VX2 is expected to offer a blend of style, performance, and affordability, positioning itself as a compelling choice for budget-conscious consumers looking for an electric scooter. As the launch date approaches, eager customers await more details about the Vida VX2's features, performance, and the number of variants that might be available.
