Tesla Recalls 27,185 Cybertrucks for Rearview Camera Delay
Tesla has announced a voluntary recall for approximately 27,185 of its 2024 Cybertruck models due to a rearview camera display issue. The recall, identified as 24V-718, affects vehicles manufactured between November 13, 2023, and September 14, 2024. The issue, discovered during an internal audit, causes a delay of up to 6-8 seconds in the camera image appearing on the screen when the car is shifted into reverse. Tesla has determined that this delay does not meet federal safety requirements and could potentially increase the risk of a collision if drivers don't have a clear view of the rear. Tesla has already rolled out an over-the-air (OTA) software update starting September 19, 2024, to fix the issue and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Owners of affected vehicles who have already received the update need take no further action. The company will notify owners and service centers about the recall by the end of September 2024, with letters to owners expected to be mailed by late November 2024. No crashes or injuries have been reported related to this issue. Tesla is committed to addressing the problem promptly and ensuring the safety of its customers.
