Tesla reintroduces the transfer of Full Self-Driving (FSD) capacities along with other promotional offers
Tesla, the leading electric vehicle manufacturer, has announced several promotions that aim to make the purchase of its vehicles more affordable and attractive. These promotions include discounts, financing offers, and a unique feature that allows customers to transfer their Full Self-Driving (FSD) package from their old Tesla to a new one.
Separate Promotions for Discounts and Financing
Firstly, it's essential to note that the Model Y discount and 0% APR financing are separate promotions. In the United States, Tesla is currently offering a special campaign for the earliest Model Y owners who upgrade to the latest version, providing a $2,000 discount. Additionally, credit-qualified customers in the U.S. can enjoy 1.99% financing on all Model Y variants. These offers are valid on purchases placed before August 31, 2024, with delivery by September 30, 2024.
Transferring Full Self-Driving Package
For those who already own a Tesla with the FSD package, Tesla has made it possible to transfer this feature to a new vehicle. To activate a transfer, customers must contact their delivery representative through the smartphone app. It's important to remember that during the order process of the new vehicle, you should not add FSD as an extra. Instead, inform your Tesla sales advisor that you want to transfer your existing FSD package.
The transfer process has specific eligibility criteria. You must be the legal and registered owner of the Tesla with FSD. The new Tesla must be ordered and delivered on the same Tesla account. On the day of delivery, FSD will be disabled on your old vehicle and enabled on the new Tesla. You are not required to trade in or sell the old Tesla; the original vehicle will revert to basic Autopilot features after the FSD transfer.
This transfer feature is not limited to North America. Since mid-2025, it has been expanded to Europe and the Middle East, allowing more owners to keep their existing FSD without repurchasing it for their new car.
Free FSD Transfer Promotion
Tesla is also offering a free FSD transfer promotion globally for customers who have purchased FSD on a Tesla and want to transfer it to a new vehicle. This promotion is valid for customers who take delivery of the new Tesla by September 30, 2024.
Model 3 Financing Promotion in the U.S.
In the U.S., Tesla currently offers 0% APR financing for up to 60 months plus three months of free FSD (supervised) when using a Tesla Referral. This promotion is available beyond the U.S. as well.
These promotions can help reduce the cost of upgrading your Tesla or getting FSD on a new vehicle. If you plan to transfer FSD, make sure to coordinate with your Tesla sales advisor at the time of ordering so the transfer can be arranged smoothly.
