Let's Dive into the Levitating Wristwatch Masterpiece by [fellerts]

Ever gazed upon an exploded CAD view and thought, "Wow, that's awesome, but how the hell can I make it a reality in the real world"? Well, [fellerts] has done just that with this mind-blowing levitating wristwatch.

Inspired by another amazing project explaining the mechanics of a mechanical watch, our creative genius here decided to bring the theory to life. And boy, did he nail it!

Initially, he had to pick the perfect watch movement to levitate, one that's complex enough to impress but simple enough to work with. The movement from the early 1900s fit the bill perfectly. With its intricate yet practical design, it was a hit.

Now, you might be thinking, "So he just glued all those tiny parts together, right?" Wrong! Casting multiple resin layers was his initial approach, but after numerous failed attempts, it was clear this wasn't the way.

Determined to succeed, our genius friend discovered that fishing line is pretty much invisible when encased in resin. Brilliant idea, isn't it? With a simple heat treatment, he could transform the fishing line into straight, transparent standoffs that would keep each part positioned and oriented just right!

The result? A mesmerizing "exploded view" effect where the watch components seem to float suspended in space, just like in a CAD diagram. But, this wasn't easy to achieve. It took four prototypes and a whole lot of tinkering to master the tricky variables of aligning, curing, and clarity.

Fascinated by the intricate workings of a mechanical watch, the creators at fellerts decided to translate the theory into a wearable gem using technology. The masterpiece, a levitating wristwatch, showcases a collection of gadgets skillfully integrated with wearables, emulating an exploded CAD view in reality.
