TotalEnergies Boosts EV Charging Network with Acquisition of Nordian CPO
TotalEnergies has bolstered its electric vehicle charging network with the acquisition of Nordian CPO, a subsidiary of Wenea. The deal adds 200 charging sites in Spain to TotalEnergies' portfolio, all powered by renewable electricity. Mathieu Soulas, Senior Vice President of New Mobilities and Marketing at TotalEnergies, welcomed the acquisition and the potential for a strategic partnership.
Wenea, the leading independent Spanish provider of electric vehicle charging services, currently operates over 1,200 charging points. The 200 sites acquired by TotalEnergies are strategically located along major highways and in urban and peri-urban areas of 17 regions in Spain. TotalEnergies and Wenea are exploring a strategic partnership to build and invest in high-power charging stations, with TotalEnergies aiming to deploy and operate more than 1,000 such sites in Europe by 2028.
Wenea's plans include deploying over 5,000 charging points in Spain and the United Kingdom by 2026, with 2,000 of them being high-power charging stations. The company has developed a leading EV Digital Platform to meet customer needs and connect its charging infrastructure with other operators. Commerzbank has supported Wenea in financing its strategic planning until 2026.
TotalEnergies' acquisition of Nordian CPO expands its charging network, aligning with its goal of deploying high-power charging sites across Europe. The potential partnership with Wenea could accelerate this growth, with both companies committed to renewable energy and customer-centric solutions.
