Triangular design of Anoma's A1 Optical transformed into mesmerizing wearable art for wrists

The Anoma A1 Optical watch, a creation from the London-based microbrand, is set to captivate watch enthusiasts with its unique fusion of sculptural design and optical art influences. The watch, which measures 39mm by 38mm, features a stainless steel case and a grey Italian leather strap, but it's the intricate dial that truly sets it apart.

The Intricate Dial Design

The dial of the A1 Optical watch boasts 50 hand-engraved, subtly offset triangles, each CNC guilloché engraved, sandblasted, and hand-polished to create a mesmerizing optical effect. This design allows the watch to distort light as it moves, offering a dynamic visual experience.

Key Features

The A1 Optical watch offers two dial finishes: silver and copper. The copper option has a vibrant, almost "salmon" hue, while the silver gives a more monochromatic feel. The watch is powered by a reliable Swiss-made Sellita SW100 automatic movement, providing a 38-hour power reserve.

For the first 150 pieces of each dial finish, Anoma includes a pen-plotted artwork by optical artist Adam Fuhrer, matching the unique number of each watch. The A1 Optical is limited to 300 individually numbered pieces, with half in silver and half in copper finishes.

Price and Availability

The Anoma A1 Optical watch is priced at £2,200, positioning it as a statement piece in the microbrand world. Orders for the watch open on August 7 at 2:00 PM GMT through Anoma's website. Delivery of the watch is expected in October.

The A1 Optical watch retains the appearance of a traditional wristwatch despite its unique sculptural design. The recessed crown, located on the caseback, maintains the clean lines of the stainless steel case. Each numbered piece will include original artwork by optical artist Adam Fuhrer.

The A1 Optical watch draws inspiration from Op Art pioneers like Bridget Riley and Ferruccio Gard, as well as Charlotte Perriand's 1950s furniture. Each color will have 150 numbered pieces, with non-numbered versions following in regular production, although the timing hasn't been specified.

In summary, the Anoma A1 Optical watch offers a captivating blend of sculptural design and optical art, making it a standout piece in the microbrand world. Its unique dial design, coupled with its artistic packaging and limited production, make it an attractive choice for watch enthusiasts and art lovers alike.
