Truck Driver Reports Harassment, Police Warn of Romance Scams After Bus Station Assault
A 31-year-old truck driver has reported a 42-year-old car driver for harassment, threats, and insults following an incident on Tuesday morning. Meanwhile, an 18-year-old is suspected of assaulting a 19-year-old at a bus station later that day. Police also warn of romance scams after an Altena woman was defrauded by someone she met on a dating app.
The truck driver's complaint comes after he approached the car driver, suspecting a medical emergency due to their erratic driving. This led to a heated discussion where the car driver allegedly made threats. The incident occurred around 8 am on Tuesday.
In a separate incident, an 18-year-old is suspected of assaulting a 19-year-old at the Markaner bus station around 5 pm on the same day. The suspect is reported to have worn gloves with hard plastic caps during the attack. However, it remains unclear who reported this crime.
In a cautionary tale, an Altena woman reported being defrauded by a man she met on a dating app. The man pressured her into transferring money, potentially as part of a 'romance scam'. Police advise caution in such contacts, warning that scammers often claim to be in the military or abroad and ask for financial support.
The police are investigating the incidents involving the truck driver and the alleged assault at the bus station. They remind the public to be vigilant in online interactions, especially when they involve requests for money.
