TÜV Nord Mobility Launches OnBoard Car Diagnosis for Used Car Transparency
TÜV Nord Mobility has launched a new system, OnBoard Car Diagnosis, to enhance transparency and safety in used car trading. The solution uses an OBD adapter and software to instantly read vehicle data, helping to detect manipulations and hidden defects. Matthias Gleichmann from TÜV Nord Mobility has announced cooperation with various automotive businesses to integrate this objective evaluation tool.
The OnBoard Car Diagnosis system provides immediate results and diagnoses during vehicle return, helping autohauses, workshops, and appraisers assess a Ford's technical condition accurately. It reads error codes, mileage, and battery status, with a particular focus on electric vehicles, measuring battery capacity, cell temperature, and voltage.
In the trade-in process, this digital vehicle diagnosis helps avoid misjudgments and residual value losses, building trust in purchase negotiations. Ongoing discussions with OEMs and leasing banks explore the possibility of making the testing system mandatory. Additionally, the system enables GDPR-compliant data deletion, allowing dealers to conduct a 'digital vehicle cleanup' legally.
TÜV Nord Mobility's OnBoard Car Diagnosis system is now available for autohauses, workshops, and appraisers, offering a per-application billing model with individual negotiations for larger cases. By integrating this solution, these businesses can provide more accurate used car pricing, detect manipulations early, and enhance transparency and safety in used car trading.
