U.S. Eases Visa Rules for South Koreans Working in U.S. for South Korean Businesses
The U.S. has clarified visa rules for South Koreans seeking to work in the U.S. for South Korean businesses. While the U.S. official handling this matter remains unnamed, the U.S. has committed to boosting trade and investment ties with South Korea.
South Koreans can now use the Electronic System for Travel Authorisation visa waiver programme and B-1 temporary visas to install, service, and repair equipment for South Korean businesses in the U.S. This update comes as the U.S. reaffirms its dedication to advancing trade and investment partnerships with South Korea.
Despite these changes, U.S. officials have not yet addressed South Korea's long-standing request for broader access to U.S. visas for specialty workers. The U.S. delegation involved in these discussions comprised officials from the Departments of State, Homeland Security, and Commerce, but no individual names were provided.
South Koreans now have clearer pathways to work in the U.S. for South Korean businesses, thanks to the updated visa rules. However, the U.S. has yet to respond to South Korea's call for expanded visa access for specialty workers.
