Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, the open-world action-adventure game set in James Cameron's iconic universe, is set to receive a significant update on December 5, 2025. This free update will introduce a much-anticipated third-person mode and the New Game+ mode, offering players a fresh perspective and enhanced replayability.

The third-person mode, a highly requested feature, allows players to switch between first-person and third-person perspectives at the press of a button. To ensure a seamless and intuitive experience, Massive Entertainment, the creators of The Division franchise, have extensively reworked the game's animations, controls, audio, and camera systems. This update promises to bring a new sense of scale, freedom, and immersion to the game.

The New Game+ mode, another exciting addition, allows players to replay the story while retaining all previously unlocked skills and inventory. This mode introduces more difficult enemies, a new skill tree, and more powerful gear, creating a challenging experience for those seeking to delve deeper into the world of Pandora.

This update builds on previous post-launch content like the story expansions “The Sky Breaker” and “Secrets of the Spires,” as well as quality-of-life improvements such as a 40fps mode for consoles and an improved Hunter’s Guide.

Initially released in 2022, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora received mixed reviews. However, the upcoming update is expected to give players a reason to revisit the game this holiday season. The update will be available simultaneously on all platforms, including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Interestingly, the third-person mode was not initially available in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Some players had expressed a desire for third-person gameplay similar to The Division games. Ubisoft has finally answered this call, adding a third-person mode to the game.

The launch of the third-person mode and New Game+ update is scheduled before the release of GTA 6, giving Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora players something exciting to look forward to before the next big release in the gaming industry.

The recreation of Pandora in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is undeniably beautiful. With the addition of the third-person mode, players will have a new perspective for exploring Pandora, fighting the RDA, and taking in the views. The update is set to enrich the gameplay experience and tie into the broader Avatar franchise timeline with the upcoming movie release, Fire and Ash, on December 19.
