Updated Foss Fairy Trail Website: A New Enchanting Journey Awaits Visitors

The Foss Fairy Trail, a beloved destination featuring tiny fairy homes and hidden wonders, has unveiled a major website update. The new design, developed using Full Site Editing (FSE) in WordPress, promises a more user-friendly experience for visitors.

The transformation of thefossfairytrail.com began with pre-update preparations, ensuring a smooth transition by backing up the existing website and updating WordPress core, themes, and plugins to their latest versions. This step guaranteed compatibility with FSE features.

The heart of the update lies in the switch to a block-based theme, complete with HTML templates and a theme.json file controlling global styles and layout settings. This change enables the editing of the entire site, including headers, footers, and templates, through blocks.

The Site Editor, a powerful tool, allows for visual editing of the website templates in real-time. Changes to colours, fonts, and spacing can be made, ensuring consistent branding across the site. Block Patterns and Reusable Blocks further speed up the design process, offering pre-designed or globally updatable layouts.

With the integration of Divi’s Full Site Front-End Editing, users can now edit all parts of the site directly from the front end, streamlining the workflow and making updates more intuitive.

The new homepage welcomes visitors with a warm and inviting feel, while clearer navigation makes exploring the website easier. The fairy blog, a brand-new addition, introduces unique fairies from the trail, some inspired by folklore and others original. Six fairy tales are set to be crafted for the launch of the fairy blog.

The website remains a work in progress, with more pages to be made and filled with content. The Foss Fairy Trail committee collaborated closely during the update process to ensure the website accurately represents the enchanting world of the trail.

The updated website design is mobile-friendly, ensuring an enjoyable experience for visitors on various devices. The website creator invites feedback on the site, acknowledging it's not perfect but is a work in progress.
