Upgrade expected for Galaxy S26 'Pro' and Edge batteries, as leaked specifications suggest improvement
Samsung's Galaxy S26 Series: Bigger Batteries for the Edge and Pro Models
Samsung is set to launch its latest smartphone series, the Galaxy S26, with some notable changes in battery capacity for the Edge and Pro models.
According to recent reports, the Galaxy S26 Edge is expected to replace the Galaxy S26 in Samsung's lineup. Both the Galaxy S26 Edge and the Galaxy S26 Pro are anticipated to launch in January.
The Galaxy S26 Pro is expected to have a battery with a rated capacity of about 4,175mAh, advertised as 4,300mAh, marking a 300mAh increase over the Galaxy S25’s 4,000mAh battery. The Galaxy S26 Edge, on the other hand, will feature a rated battery capacity of approximately 4,078mAh, advertised as 4,200mAh, which is also about a 300mAh increase from the previous S25 Edge’s 3,900mAh battery.
The larger batteries are primarily due to the larger displays of both models. However, the lower capacity of the Galaxy S26 Edge may not stretch as far as the larger display, but the 8% increase will be more than welcome.
Interestingly, Samsung is planning to use new battery technology to give the Galaxy S26 Edge a bigger battery and a thinner design. Unfortunately, no details about this new technology have been disclosed yet.
As for the base model of the Galaxy S26 series, now referred to as the "Pro", it is expected to have a battery rated at 4,300 mAh, a 300 mAh increase from the current Galaxy S25's 4,000 mAh battery.
Regarding the Galaxy S26 Ultra, no information is currently available regarding a battery upgrade.
In other news, Samsung is discussing Apple's upcoming foldable and AI assistants in relation to the Galaxy S26. However, no details about the potential impact of the new battery technology on the performance or longevity of the Galaxy S26 Edge’s battery have been given.
Despite the improvements in battery capacity, the Galaxy S26 Edge is expected to be roughly at the same price point as other models in the Galaxy S26 series.
As we approach the launch date, more details about the Galaxy S26 series are expected to be revealed. Stay tuned for updates!
Technology advancements are evident in the upcoming Galaxy S26 series, especially with the integration of larger batteries in the Edge and Pro models. Smartphones, like the Galaxy S26 Edge, are expected to house new battery technology, promising a thinner design while offering more power. On the other hand, gadgets such as the Galaxy S26 Pro will boast a boosted battery capacity of 4,300mAh, providing longer usage times for smartphone users.
