Volvo Enhances S90 & V90 Infotainment with Google's Android

Volvo has enhanced the infotainment systems of its S90 saloon and V90 estate models, integrating Google's Android platform. This move aligns with Volvo's commitment to safety and user experience.

The Swedish automaker has opted to utilise Google's expertise for infotainment, rather than developing the system in-house. This decision brings Google Maps and Google Assistant directly into the vehicles, enabling more voice-activated functions and hands-free control.

The Digital Services Package, complimentary for the first four years, offers access to additional apps and features. Notably, the XC90 SUV has not been included in this initial rollout. While Volvo has announced a shift towards electric and hybrid models from 2019, specific details about infotainment system updates were not provided at that time.

The S90 and V90 now come with Google Maps and Google Assistant built-in, eliminating the need for a phone connection. Additionally, Volvo's ADAS system has been updated to improve features like cameras and radar sensors, further bolstering the vehicles' safety profile.
