Wordle Insights
Every day I check out Wordle Bot to help me with my Wordle guessing game. Here's where you can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here. ️
This one was a doozy! Even though I had only 116 words left after LIGHT, I only had one yellow 'G'. I thought GRAPE would be the trick, but I was wrong. With two green boxes, my options were limited. I went with GROSS, but it left me with two words. I was lucky to guess GROWN next and win the game!
Competitive Wordle Competition
I score 0 points for guessing in four and -1 for losing to the Bot. The Bot, on the other hand, scores 1 point for guessing in three and another for beating me, making my nemesis's lead for May that much more painful!
Erik: 12 points
Wordle Bot: 13 points
How To Play Competitive Wordle
- Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points, and losing Wordle is -3 points.
- If you best your foe, you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points, and if you lose to the opponent, you get -1 point. Accumulate your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
- Fridays doubly your points-positive or negative.
- Maintain a running tally or just play day-by-day. Happy gaming!
Today's Wordle Origin
The word "grown" traces its roots to Old English grōwan which means "to flourish, increase, develop, or spring up." This comes from Proto-Germanic grōan and ultimately from the Proto-Indo-European root ǵer- meaning "to grow, become green, or sprout."

"Today's technology has integrated Wordle into various entertainment platforms, offering linked games, anagrams, crossclimbs, and even a competitive mode where Wordle Bot serves as a formidable adversary."
"For Saturday's Wordle, consider the hint - technology may guide you towards a word such as 'grown', as it followed a path from its roots in Old English, meaning to flourish or increase."
