Xiaopeng Motors, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, has unveiled its latest offering, the Xiaopeng P5, set to hit the roads in late October. The P5 marks a significant milestone as the world's first mass-produced EV equipped with lidar technology.

The P5 will be available in three variants: a top-of-the-line model featuring the XPILOT 3.5 Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) and twin LIDAR system, an E-series with XPILOT 3.0, and a base G-series without ADAS.

The pricing for the P5 ranges from 157,900 yuan ($24,900) for the G-series to 223,900 yuan ($34,000) for the 600P, the most expensive variant. Only the 600P and 550P models are equipped with lidar. The 550G and 550E variants are priced at 172,900 yuan ($26,900) and 192,900 yuan ($29,990) respectively.

The Xiaopeng P5 boasts a sleek design, with a grill-less front face and extending headlights with LEDs, followed by the same pattern in the taillights. Inside, the P5's interior resembles the Tesla Model S, featuring a vertical touch screen and instrument gauge.

Automotive veteran Lei Xing predicts the potential for the P5 to sell 10,000 units per month. However, specific sales targets for the P5 have not been officially disclosed.

Xiaopeng Motors, known for setting ambitious sales targets, launched the P5, its third car, on September 15. The P5, a family sedan, is part of Xiaopeng's core product lineup. For detailed sales guidance and actual sales data, it is recommended to check the company's latest quarterly earnings reports or official investor communications.

The Xiaopeng P5 has a wheelbase of 2768mm, a length of 4808 mm, a width of 1840mm, and a height of 1530mm. All variants of the P5 have a power of 155kW with 310Nm of maximum torque. The largest 71.4kWh battery pack is dedicated only to the most expensive variant, the 600P.

The Xiaopeng P5 features a smooth, slightly curving front bonnet with an active air intake flap, adding to its modern and dynamic look. With its advanced technology, sleek design, and competitive pricing, the Xiaopeng P5 is set to make its mark in the EV market.
